Are Testosterone Boosters A Scam?
Yes...and no
Happy Thursday!
I get this question almost every week, sometimes more than once:
“Hunter, are testosterone boosters just a scam? Is there ANYTHING that actually works if you’re not ready to do testosterone replacement therapy?”
The lack of testosterone is the root of all evil in the modern world, so I want to flesh this one out and give my thoughts on solutions.
Let me give you the no-BS answer.
Five Second Summary
➡️ Most testosterone boosters are a scam, with little real impact on hormone levels.
➡️TRT remains the gold standard for guaranteed results.
➡️Testoluten is a clinically-backed peptide bioregulator that actually increases LH, FSH, and total testosterone, unlike typical supplements.
➡️Men facing age-related T decline, those focused on fertility, or anyone wanting a proven alternative to hormones are great candidates for Testoluten.
➡️Expect big improvements in libido, energy, mood, physical recovery, fertility markers, and overall hormonal balance within 2-4 weeks.
➡️I plan to use Testoluten WITH testosterone replacement therapy to enhance my fertility markets while Taylor and I work on starting our family.
➡️You can get 35% off Testoluten at BioLongevity Labs using code HUNTERW (20% automatic + 15% with code)
Testosterone Boosters
Here’s the deal.
The supplement industry wants you to believe you’re one $50 bottle away from chiseling out a Greek god physique and waking up with the testosterone of a 19-year-old linebacker.
You’ve seen the ads: “Boost T by 200%!” or “Alpha-male in 30 days!” but if you’ve ever tried these so-called “testosterone boosters,” you probably realized pretty quickly…
Most of them are garbage.
Why?
Because the vast majority of over-the-counter testosterone boosters are simply repackaged herbal supplements.
They’re often under-dosed, poorly sourced, and with almost zero clinical data backing up their claims.
Sure, there are exceptions.
Sometimes something like Tongkat Ali, Fadogia agrestis, or ashwagandha can move the needle a bit for some guys, especially if they’re chronically stressed or have low baseline testosterone from overtraining.
I know, because in my early 20s I tried ALL of them.
All of my disposable income went to GNC or Vitamin Shoppe.
But if you actually test your labs, most of these “testosterone boosters” might give you a 5-10% transient bump at best, and many of them won’t budge your numbers at all.
And that brings me to the next point:
The Best Way to Optimize Testosterone
If you’re truly looking to optimize testosterone, nothing comes close to testosterone replacement therapy (TRT).
It’s safe, predictable, and you know exactly what you’re getting.
When done correctly TRT gives you full control over your hormone levels.
You can set your total testosterone wherever you feel best, keep your free T in the upper quartile, and manage your other hormones for peak health, muscle, and brain function.
So if you’re suffering from low T and you want a guaranteed solution, I’ll always recommend talking to a good doctor about TRT as your starting point.
But What If You’re Not Ready for TRT?
Maybe you’re still young, or you’re just not comfortable with the commitment of lifelong testosterone replacement.
Or maybe you’re already doing “everything right” but you feel like your testicles aren’t keeping up their end of the bargain.
This is where most men start asking about testosterone boosters.
And up until recently, I’d have told you:
“Don’t waste your money—unless you just like the taste of expensive capsules.”
But there’s one exception I’ve found that actually moves the needle: Testoluten.
What is Testoluten?
Testoluten is a peptide bioregulator which is a small chain of peptides derived from the testes of young, healthy bulls.
Now, before you write it off as “just another animal extract,” let me explain why this is fundamentally different:
These peptides are tissue-specific, meaning they’re “coded” to work on the exact cells in your own testes that are responsible for testosterone production, sperm quality, and overall reproductive health.
They don’t force your body to do anything unnatural. Instead, they normalize and restore the natural signaling that gets disrupted with age, stress, toxins, or overtraining.
Unlike herbs, they actually have clinical data showing they can raise LH, FSH, and total testosterone in men with age-related declines.
The Clinical Trials
A clinical study at the St. Petersburg Institute of Bioregulation and Gerontology put Testoluten to the test in 36 men, ages 47 to 65, all diagnosed with “male climax” (what we’d call andropause in the States).
The symptoms?
Low libido, low energy, memory issues, emotional swings, sweating, blood pressure spikes—the classic signs of the midlife hormonal drop.
Here’s what they did:
Control Group: Standard therapy (vitamins, adaptogens, no hormones)
Testoluten Group: Standard therapy plus Testoluten (10mg capsule, twice daily, for 30 days)
What happened after 30 days?
LH (Luteinizing Hormone):
Before: 3.12 mIU/mL
After: 4.65 mIU/mL (Testoluten group; U.S. lab range for LH is usually 1.24–8.62 mIU/mL)
FSH (Follicle-Stimulating Hormone):
Before: 1.67 mIU/mL
After: 2.96 mIU/mL (U.S. range: 1.27–19.26 mIU/mL)
Total Testosterone:
Before: 3.2 ng/mL (which is 320 ng/dL)
After: 5.4 ng/mL (540 ng/dL) in the Testoluten group
By the way, the control group barely moved the needle, ending up at 3.5 ng/mL (350 ng/dL) for testosterone, still hovering at the bottom end of normal.
But here’s what REALLY matters:
All the symptoms improved.
Libido returned. Mood, memory, and physical energy shot up. Blood pressure stabilized. Sperm count and quality improved.
No side effects. No suppression. No drug dependence.
Was it as good as TRT? No.
But was it better than nothing? Yes.
Who Is a Good Candidate for Testoluten?
Men noticing age-related drops in T: If you’re in your 30s, 40s, 50s or beyond and you notice libido slipping, recovery lagging, energy dropping, or mental focus fading—Testoluten might be your ally.
Men planning for fertility: If you want kids (now or in the future) and don’t want to risk suppressing your natural fertility with TRT, Testoluten is a logical, non-suppressive approach. You can also use it in conjunction with TRT to enhance fertility parameters.
Guys under stress, recovering from illness, or with environmental exposures: Toxins, infections, and chronic stress all can whack your testicular function. Testoluten helps reset that baseline.
Athletes who have overreached or overtrained: High-volume training can drop testosterone. Testoluten may help restore your system to optimal.
Anyone wanting to try a proven alternative before considering hormones.
What Can You Expect to Regain with Testoluten?
Libido and sexual performance: Most men report a “return of fire” within 2-4 weeks.
Mental focus and mood: Less brain fog, better mood, fewer emotional swings.
Physical energy and recovery: Higher motivation, better gym performance, quicker recovery.
Better sperm count, motility, and fertility markers: Especially important if you want kids.
Restored hormonal balance: Lab results that show a real difference.
My Personal Plan: Using Testoluten for Fertility
My wife, Taylor, and I are planning to start our family within the next year, and as someone who’s used both TRT and peptide bioregulators, I want the absolute best for our future child.
That means maximizing my fertility, sperm quality, and overall hormonal health alongside testosterone therapy.
So here’s my protocol:
I’m going to use Testoluten as a 30-day course (10mg, twice daily), repeat every few months, and stack it with other basics (clean diet, good sleep, heavy lifting, and mitochondrial support).
If you want to follow along, I’ll share my lab results and updates in future emails.
