Bodybuilders Were The First Biohackers
The value of being a human guinea pig
We all owe bodybuilders a TREMENDOUS debt of gratitude.
Because like I covered yesterday in my video on peptide myths, these guys weren’t just the OG human guinea pigs for peptides…
They were the OG Guinea pigs for EVERYTHING.
✅ Testosterone
✅ Growth hormone
✅ Innovative diets (low carb, fasting, ketogenic, etc)
✅ Every single training modality under the sun
In fact, I’d go as far as to argue that bodybuilders have done more to enhance our understanding of optimization than all the lab coats on the planet combined.
Which is not to say that this group is perfect.
Because in their quest to test absolutely EVERYTHING, they also do a lot of incredibly STUPID things.
What’s the problem with having a personality in which you’re compelled to push everything to the edge?
Sometimes you fall off.
Hence all the stories you hear about guys like Joe Lindner and Rich Piana dropping dead before the age of 50.
So it might sound a little strange to hear me say that YOU should endeavor to be more like a bodybuilder.
That YOU should take on this mentality of treating yourself like a guinea pig.
Because that is the ONLY way to truly live life at the tip of the spear.
Here’s the deal…
Thanks to the absolute explosion of optimization into the mainstream consciousness, Jay Campbell and I have had an absolute ton of newbies that have stumbled through our door.
Sounds great, right?
Yeah…it’s actually pretty disheartening.
Because most of the people who stumble on our work are lurkers.
Or as I like to call them “optimization tourists”.
These people will watch all the videos, read all the articles - they might even buy the courses.
But they won’t ACTUALLY do anything with that info.
Instead, they sit and go “yeah, that sounds pretty cool…
But I’m gonna wait until a few more people try it first”
Look, I can sit here and rattle off all the reasons why peptides ain’t gonna hurt you.
I could list off all the reasons why therapeutic testosterone is the greatest thing since sliced bread.
But at the end of the day, when you associate this stuff with a group of people who are known for dropping DEAD in their 30s and 40s, it’s not exactly reassuring, now is it?
But the truth is this:
Bodybuilders don’t drop dead because they experimented on themselves.
They drop dead because:
a.) They pushed it WAY too far
b.) They did it for WAY too long
That’s the real reason you see these guys keeling over at such a young age.
But that’s also NOT what I advocate you do.
Look, the human body is INCREDIBLY resilient.
It doesn’t just stop functioning the second you throw a curve ball at it.
It stops functioning after YEARS of abuse.
And that’s what these guys are doing.
But people like you and I?
We’re doing it SMART.
✅ We’re sourcing these agents from reputable vendors (always use code hunter15 for 15% off).
✅ We’re adding things in slowly, one step at a time
✅ We’re monitoring and keeping track of our bloodwork and biomarkers for negative changes over time (and adjusting accordingly)
Look, I know a lot of you would feel more comfortable waiting around until more people start using peptides, hormones, and other agents.
But guess what - you don’t have time to wait.
We’ve reached a crisis point in the health of our species.
With each day that goes by, you’re either getting healthier, or you’re falling into a state of decay.
There is no neutral, and there’s no time to wait.
You’re either living at the tip of the spear…
Or you’re getting stabbed by it.
Best,
Hunter Williams
