Peptide Due Diligence

Navigating the peptide gray market

I received a fantastic question the other day - both for the actual question itself and for the mindset behind it:

“I was watching X influencer while he interviewed Dr. X influencer on YouTube. At the 34ish minute mark, he talks about gray market peptides.  He discusses a major issue is cleanliness and purity, stating that they could have LPS, presenting serious life-threatening consequences when using peptides “not for human consumption”.  How do I vet peptide companies?”

First, let me touch on the mindset aspect of this.

Many people are deathly afraid of anything “gray market” - especially when it comes to performance-enhancing agents like peptides.

Something about the term just conjures up images of 1930s gangsters brewing up bathtub moonshine.

And it certainly doesn’t help that “trusted influencers” stoke these fears.

So, the fact that the person asking this specific question (“How do I vet companies?”) is excellent.

It shows that she’s ready and willing to use research companies…

She wants a little guidance first on how to do it safely.

Which is perfectly reasonable.

At the end of the day, “research land” is the Wild West.

And while it’s certainly not common in my experience for these issues to happen, I’m sure some vendors are cooking this stuff up in…well, less-than-ideal conditions. 😒

So, how exactly do you go about vetting someone?

I have A LOT of experience as an avid peptide user and as someone who’s started his own company in the space.

So, with that in mind, here are a few key things I would look for.

And yes, my company BioLongevity Labs checks all these boxes 😉

✅ Openness and transparency

Have you ever clicked on a peptide site and thought, “Yeah, these guys look legit”?

That is, of course, until you start digging around on them and find NOTHING.

You can’t find out who owns the company, you have no idea where the peptides are coming from, and you have absolutely zero clue where their facilities are.

Not good.

A good research company is open and transparent.

Their founders should be DYING to discuss their work publicly and showcase their state-of-the-art facilities (you can check out a video of our lab here).

✅ Purity & third-party testing

It’s one thing to say your peptides are pure and safe…

It’s another thing to put your money where your mouth is.

A good company won’t just test their products for safety and efficacy. They’ll get a third party to do it.

As for purity, you should be shooting for 99%+.

✅ GMP compliant

GMP stands for “good manufacturing practices” and refers to a set of rigorous standards within an industry.

And if the company you’re looking at isn’t willing to take the step to meet those standards, drop ‘em.

✅ Longevity in the space

Peptides are all the rage right now.

And unfortunately, this means that many fly-by-night sellers are looking to make a quick buck.

It’s not necessarily a problem if the company hasn’t been around for a while (we’ve only been around for two months).

But the OWNERS should have longevity in the space.

There should be people in charge at the top who live, breathe, and sleep this stuff.

And no, all of this is not just a commercial for us.

But if this has convinced you that we’re the real deal, then great news:

We’re almost finished with the warehouse move and will be back in stock with our products SOON.

Want to find out when they’re officially ready to roll?

👉 Head over to BioLongevity Labs, find your favorite peptides, and enter your email to get notified when they’re back in stock.

Best,

Hunter Williams
