Why People Don't Build REAL muscle
The failure rate is higher than you think
I’m going to let you in a little secret…
Building muscle is easy.
All those articles you’ve read or videos you’ve seen telling you otherwise are lying to you…
Or rather, they’re not telling you the whole story.
Gaining muscle is dead simple.
Not only can anyone do it, but most people DO.
At some point in their lives, most people go through a period where they put on lean muscle tissue.
Sure, some true lifelong dumpster fires spend their ENTIRE lives not engaging in a single bit of meaningful physical activity…
But the vast majority are not like that.
Almost everyone has played a sport as a teenager.
Most people have gone through a “gym phase” at some point in their teen or adult life.
And at some point during that process, they put on muscle.
Why?
Because we’re humans.
And as humans, that’s what our bodies are meant to do.
We’re meant to put on lean tissue in response to a physical stimulus.
And a lot of time, that can happen without much planning on your part.
You could have absolutely awful technique, subpar effort, and an atrocious diet…
And you can STILL put on muscle.
It’s THAT engrained in human biology.
Everyone can put on muscle…
But very few people put on REAL muscle.
Very few people will put on real, appreciable, noticeable contractile tissue at any point in their lives.
It’s FREAKISHLY rare.
And no, this isn’t just normies who played lacrosse in high school and picked up a temporary gym habit in their 20s and 30s.
This applies to gym bros.
Guys who lift REGULARLY.
I see it all the time.
All of the “regulars” in my gym who have been coming for years…
And have very little to show for it.
A lot of them look like they barely even lift 🤯
So why does this happen?
The short answer is that they don’t know what they’re doing.
AT ALL.
But I know that’s not a satisfying answer 😁
So, in this interest of education - and helping YOU beat the odds - here are the top three reasons the 99 percent fail.
Mistake #1: Not Eating Enough
Most people never truly master the cycles of cutting fat and building mass.
This is one of those principles that’s been around in bodybuilding forever, but many people are still VERY resistant to it.
When you’re trying to build muscle, you’re eating more calories.
When you’re trying to lose fat (like during a 30 Days 2 Shredz cycle), you eat fewer calories.
Simple, right?
It is…but a lot of people don’t do it.
Rather than follow the natural cycle necessary for ideal body composition, they stubbornly try to keep their calories low ALL THE TIME (women are notoriously bad for this).
The result?
Not only do they crash their metabolism, but they never give their body the raw building blocks needed to grow.
Mistake #2: You’re Not REALLY Training
When I go to the gym and look at most people, I can’t tell if they’re training or warming up.
The bottom line is this…
If you ever want to build SIGNIFICANT muscle, you must FORCE your body to grow.
As I said, building some muscle is easy.
Building SERIOUSLY muscle requires you to push your body far past the point where it’s comfortable.
To the point where it’s FORCED to adapt.
And the single best way I know of to do that is to take your lifts to Positive Muscle Failure - the point at which you literally cannot do another repetition.
Your Hormones Are A Mess
This one is MASSIVE (especially for the fellas).
If your body is not producing enough testosterone, you will not grow.
It cannot be done.
You can do all the reps in the world.
You can do all the fancy, intricate split training in the world.
But if you’re hormones are all messed up, it’s literally like going to war without your sword and spear.
Don’t believe me?
I’ve seen TONS of guys work their butt off in the gym for years with NOTHING to show for it…
Only to get on testosterone and gain 15 pounds of muscle in a year.
It’s that powerful and the ultimate lever you need to hit if you want to grow.
