Staying Future Focused

No looking back

I remember waking up about a year ago, the day after Christmas, firing up my computer, and attempting to log into my YouTube account…

Only to discover that it had been deleted 😱

No warning.

No heads up.

It had simply vanished off the face of the Earth.

Like so many small channels before, it had fallen victim to the whims of the YouTube gods.

Of course, the YouTube gods being the fickle deities that they are, I was offered no explanation for why my account was being deleted…

Except that I had “violated the terms of service.”

Which, in case you didn’t know, could literally mean ANYTHING.

As you can imagine, this was a massive shock and a pretty CRUSHING blow to my business.

At that point, I’d spent a few YEARS working on that channel.

I had over 450 videos on there, covering everything from health and optimization content to behind-the-scenes vids on how I built my e-commerce brand Zeroats…

ALL of it was wiped out in an instant.

And unfortunately, at the time, I didn’t have the foresight to back those videos up to an external hard drive or cloud service 🤦‍♂️

So they vanished into the ether, never to be seen again.

Now, at this point, I had two options…

The first option was to dwell on it.

To sit there and ruminate over what had happened and what had been lost.

And worse - to ruminate about everything I had done wrong and what I could have done to prevent it.

“I should have backed up the videos!”

“I shouldn’t have been so brazen about telling people where to buy peptides!”

And on and on.

I didn’t do any of that.

I sat there, and after my shock wore off, I went, “Well, that sucks…

I guess I’ll just have to start from scratch 🤷‍♂️”

And that’s precisely what I did.

I learned the lessons that needed to be learned from the experience (e.g., back up your videos, don’t talk about peptide sourcing on YouTube, etc.), buckled down, and got to work.

The result?

It’s been a year, and I have over 100 NEW videos on my channel.

But more importantly, I have over 100 new videos on my channel that are BETTER than the ones I had before.

Everything has improved dramatically in the content, delivery, and the way the information is presented.

From my perspective, this wasn’t a setback but a catalyst for growth.

Starting from scratch was a chance to wipe the slate and improve my work.

And boy, did it pay off.

Over 100 videos, almost 15,000 new subscribers, and (in my opinion) one of the absolute best, most informative biohacking channels out there today.

All of us have things we regret.

We all have setbacks, and we all have things we wish we’d done differently.

As we head into 2025, I know many of you will look back on 2024 and wish it were different.

Well, guess what?

It’s not.

The past is the past, and it is what it is.

And if you spend all your time ruminating on it, you’ll have no energy left to create absolute magic in 2025.

By all means, do an “autopsy” on your failures.

Figure out what you did wrong so you don’t make those mistakes again…

And then let it go.

Start your year off with something BIG.

For me, it was simple - double down and crank out video content.

For you, it will be different.

You might want to start the year by following a 30-Day 2 Shredz cycle and losing 20 pounds of fat.

Or maybe you want to start the year by finally fixing your testosterone deficiency.

Or taking the plunge and learning how to use peptides yourself.

But whatever you want, you canNOT do it if you are stuck in the past.

Something to think about as we head into the new year.

Best,
