Vanity Vs. Health

Why they're one in the same

One of the more ridiculous - and pernicious - beliefs in the optimization world is that health and aesthetics exist in two fundamentally different worlds.

The idea that you should be first and foremost interested in your health…

While how your body appears to the world is considered a vanity pursuit.

Which is…weird 🧐

I mean, it would make sense coming from the normies.

After all, when 70% of the population is overweight or obese, simply NOT being fat can be seen as an act of vanity.

But when I hear this kind of thing from people INSIDE the optimization space, it really makes me scratch my head.

But I suppose it ALSO makes a lot of sense….

Seriously, take one look at some of the most famous wellness experts with their shirts off, and it’s pretty obvious that most of these guys do not pay attention to how they look.

So when this particular corner of the internet sees the kinds of things Jay and I regularly do and post, it provokes a knee-jerk reaction.

When they see us REGULARLY shred down to single-digit body fat, head down to Mexico, and embark on an epic photo shoot, it just triggers something in their hindbrain…

And causes them to dismiss us as a couple of basic bros.

Want to know the truth?

These guys aren’t as healthy as you think.

Sure, they’re not dumpster fires by any stretch of the imagination.

But they’re not the pinnacles of health they present themselves as.

Because the fact of the matter is this:

You CANNOT separate your physical health from the way you look.

Because the way you appear to the world reflects what’s happening inside.

And really, this should be common sense.

If you can take off your shirt and look in the mirror, and:

You’re lean and chiseled

Your skin is radiant and glowing

You’re jacked

That’s a pretty good indication that all is well on the inside.

After all, we ALL know that the leaner you are, the less inflammation you have.

We all know that the more muscle you have on your frame, the more resistant you are to the diseases of aging.

We all know that healthy skin is an indication of cellular health and vitality.

Everyone understands this…

Except for the high and mighty optimization bros 🤦‍♂️

Now, obviously, there’s a line here…

There absolutely is such a thing as a pathological (and narcissistic) obsession with aesthetics.

But then again, there’s also such a thing as a pathological obsession with health.

But Jay and I are not at either of those two extremes.

And we don’t suggest YOU get to that place either.

But we absolutely advocate the following:

Add as much muscle to your frame as humanly possible

Get as lean as humanly possible (use 30 Days 2 Shredz as your guide)

Use not only how you feel but how you LOOK as a guide to see if what you’re doing is working

Not only will you LOVE the final product staring back at you in the mirror, but you’ll also be head and tails above all these fake optimization gurus wagging their fingers at you from above.
