The Journey IS The Destination
How to tell if you're making progress
Living the Fully Optimized Lifestyle is one of the hardest things you’ll ever do.
Period.
Very few things come close.
First of all, you have the entire world conspiring against you.
You have an entire society that’s set up to be as unhealthy as humanly possible (and one that’s hellbent on dragging EVERYONE down with it).
But it’s also hard because of all the different aspects required of you.
ESPECIALLY when it comes to lifestyle.
Diet, cardio, sleep, training, meal prep, meditation, supplements…
The list of things you need to do is overwhelming, to say the least.
Me?
I wouldn’t have it any other way.
After all, if it were easy, EVERYONE would do it.
And the fact that it is so difficult - and that I’ve succeeded despite that difficulty - fills me with a sense of pride.
Once you start fully living this way, it will also fill you with a sense of pride.
But I get it…
It can be daunting if you’re just getting started - or even if you’re only a few months into the journey.
And it can sometimes feel like you’re spinning your wheels.
So, today, I want to give you a guideline and potentially some good news.
Today, I want to share a quick and dirty heuristic for determining whether you’re on the right path.
And the question you need to ask yourself is this:
Are you doing this stuff daily?
It's as simple as that.
Are you consistently implementing these lifestyle habits every day, rain or shine?
🤔 Do you meditate every day?
🤔 Do you eat your body weight (ish) in grams of protein daily?
🤔 Do you do cardio every day?
🤔 Do you go to the gym and lift weights on the days you’re supposed to (the exception to the everyday rule)?
🤔 Do you wake up and go to bed roughly around the same time every day?
If you do all of these things daily, I can almost guarantee you’re on the right track.
And you should be very, very proud of yourself.
Do you know how INSANELY difficult it is to make daily behavioral changes?
VERY difficult.
All the scientific research has shown this - for the vast majority of people, daily behavior modification is damn near impossible.
Let me put it this way…
We spend YEARS teaching children to do something as simple as flossing their teeth daily.
And yet countless ADULTS still don’t even manage to do that (myself included on occasion).
So, if you have managed to cultivate these new habits, you are very much the exception.
And you are going to CRUSH it 👊
Notice I didn’t say, “Are you doing this stuff WELL?”
I didn’t ask if you’re doing quality cardio, quality meditation, or quality training.
No - all I want to know is if you’re DOING it.
We can get you doing it well (the fact that you’ve made it a daily habit means you have plenty of time to practice).
Because if you’ve made it this far, I know beyond a shadow of a doubt that you’ll have the discipline to see it through to the end once we start making those adjustments and upping the intensity.
Best,
Hunter Williams
P.S. I dropped a new video today about my favorite GDAs (glucose disposal agents). Check it out below:
